Born Under A Wandering Star
Blackfeet Nation Reconsidering Blood Quantum ⇢

“An organization consisting of both enrolled and unenrolled Blackfeet called BEAR (Blackfeet Enrollment Amendment Reform) is now collecting signatures of enrolled tribal members in an effort to amend the Blackfeet constitution and eliminate blood quantum as the measurement of tribal identity. They argue for greater inclusion and unity within the Blackfeet Tribe, and seek to replace the blood quantum standard with lineal descent, wherein anyone who could provide verifiable proof of being the child, grandchild or great-grandchild of an enrolled member would qualify for Blackfeet tribal membership.”

I don’t know what other people think, but I’m all on board for this. I hate Blood Quantum and think it’s a load of horse shit, and that this will go further to protect and preserve the traditions, by letting Descendants (like yours truly) participate more equally.
